Troubleshooting

Installer stalls at file permissions check

This issue can be caused by a number of things. First off, make sure you’re using PHP 5. PHP 4 is unsupported. Checking your PHP error log will help you diagnose this issue. Make sure you’ve uploaded all the files completely, and your webserver can read the files. Some hosts will not run PHP scripts if they are writable by the group, in that case make sure you chmod the files to 755 instead of 777.

Images are missing from the desktop

This is usually a problem involving themes. Make sure that the theme you are using is installed, and that all the theme’s files were uploaded correctly. Also, make sure that the theme is compatible with the version of Lucid that you are using.

Can’t modify files

Make sure that the /files/ and /public/ directories (and their contents) are writable by the web server.

Sessions are not persistent (Logs out without being told)

You need to increase the session lifetime in php.ini. Either that, or your cookie may be expiring. Check your browser’s cookie configuration.

Problem when uploading large files

This is most likely caused due to your PHP configuration having a low max upload size. Change the value of MAX_FILE_SIZE in php.ini to a larger amount.

Can’t run a .exe file

Windows programs cannot be run inside of Lucid.

Lucid won’t work in a certain browser. Which browsers are supported?

Currently, Lucid supports the following:

  • Firefox 2+
  • Safari 3+
  • Internet Explorer 7+
  • Opera 9.02+

Internet Explorer 6 is partially supported, but due to the complexity of Lucid, it is difficult to support. Generally, any javascript-enabled browser that has good standards support should be able to run Lucid. Browser support of 3rd party applications varies, see the publisher’s site for more information.

When I close the desktop, the login form just re-opens the lucid. Why?

This is so that if you want to set Lucid as your homepage, you don’t have to bother with logging back in. If you don’t want to stay logged in, simply log out. To do this, go to System > Log Out on the panel.
